[Not equal]: In February 2012, Frank Vega Delgado proved that P is not equal to NP. He starts from the assumption P=UP, and shows that this leads to EXP=P (which is known to be wrong from the time hierarchy theorem); this contradiction implies that P is not equal to UP (which forms a subclass of NP). His paper "The existence of one-way functions" is available at http://the-point-of-view-of-frank.blogspot.com/. A variant of the proof appeared under the title "P versus UP" in the IEEE Latin America Transactions; see this link. Yet another variant of the paper "P versus UP" was submitted to the arXiv under the pseudonym Asia Furones. The paper at http://arxiv.org/abs/1205.3655 has been withdrawn by arxiv admin, due to use of pseudonym by frank.vega@datys.cu against arXiv policy.
